Suleimenova Gulsum Seilkhankyzy was born in 1945. In 1968 she graduated with honors from the
departnment of Roman-German philology of the philological faculty of S.M. Kirov Kazakh State
University. In October 1986 the lesson at the 5th course (special department) of the faculty
of history was photographed by the CNN company for 7-series film "The Portrait of the Soviet
Union" and then the film was shown in the USSR as well as in the USA. The representatives of
the Peace Corps-1994 and TASIC (the European Union) - 1996 were present at the lesson at the
faculty. All the lessons were highly evaluated. She increased her professional level at
Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov (1973), Almaty Pedagogical Institute of
Foreign Languages (1980), at Georgetown University, Washington, the USA (1988), at Oklahoma
State University, the USA (1997), at language courses and seminars under the auspices of the
American Embassy and British Council. Since 1968 she has worked as an interpreter at
receiving official delegations at the University. She worked as a simultaneous interpreter at
international forums, conferences and seminars under the auspices of UN, UNESCO, UNICEF, WTO,
EU, NATO as well as within the RK. She took an active part in the steps of international
importance: - participant and interpreter of Kazakh-American festival "Senim" - Pensilvania,
USA, 1992; - leader of the group of interpreters-coordinators from the RK at 100th
anniversary of the Olimpic Games - Atlanta, USA, 1996; - participant and interpreter of
subregional women's conference under the auspices of UN - Bucharest, Romania, 1996; -
participant and interpreter of an international conference "How to meet a new Milleniun"-
California, USA, 1999. Research interests: the role of a native language in learning foreign
languages,intersubject ties (English and Kazakh, English and national history) and
comparative methods in the process of teaching foreign languages.
